Rest of UAE
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven states formed in December 1971.
Although each state - Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al Quwain- maintains a large degree of independence, the UAE is governed by a Supreme Council of Rulers made up of the seven emirs, who appoint the prime minister and the cabinet.
The UAE itself occupies an area of 83,600 sq km along the south-eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Qatar lies to the west, Saudi Arabia to the south and west, and Oman to both the south and north east.
The UAE is one of the world's fastest growing tourist destinations, with all the right ingredients for an unforgettable holiday: sun, sand, sea, sports, unbeatable shopping, world-class hotels and restaurants, an intriguing traditional culture, and a safe and welcoming environment.
